The garden takes a turn for the better

Do you remember this in November 2010? 

Then this in Spring 2011?

Well, this is April 2012.  Nearly a year and a half later, we now have a new patio, 3 flower beds and a beautiful lawn.... 

What do you think? 

The Back Garden Gets Some Attention

We finally booked a skip for the long weekend and got working on the garden.  Mr V is due most credit as he has been pulling down the wall for days and days leading up to this next project.


Here's the skip at the start and end of the day...

We set about filling the skip with bricks from the old wall then all the garden waste, namely lots of mud, roots of old plants and twigs. 


Here's the flower beds being broken down....

Here's Mr V doing his best with the ivy roots at the back of the garden.  After an axe, a crowbar and shovel, he took to it with a chain saw.  This still didn't lift the roots - tomorrow is another day...

The mound of mud at the foot of this image is going to be cleared in the remaining space in the skip - then the next job is clearing the mud from flower beds in the far right, before lifting the patio... I think we may need another skip...
